Beneficial Ownership (UBO) (EN)
The natural person(s) who ultimately own or control a legal entity, directly or indirectly. Under UAE AML regulations (Cabinet Decision No. 58 of 2020 on the Regulation of Beneficial Owner Procedures), all UAE mainland and free zone companies must identify, verify, and maintain records of their Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs) — defined as any natural person who: (1) owns 25% or more of the company's shares/capital, (2) exercises effective control over the company, or (3) benefits from 25% or more of the company's profits. Companies must file UBO information with the relevant licensing authority and update it within 15 days of any change. Non-compliance triggers significant penalties.
